Search Engine Optimisation)

There’s a lot of confusion when it comes to Search Engine Optimisation (SEO). We often have the conversation with clients who ask, "can you add on a device to boost my ranking?" or "can you create a huge amount of unseen keywords in the background?".

The thing with boosting your ratings is to understand Google algorithms. This sophisticated system determines the quality of your site in comparison to your competitors.

Here are the key elements to consider:

  • How frequently is your website updated? Google keeps track of new pages, images and text. It favours sites that are frequently updated

  • What other websites out there have you listed as a referral? - Refferal clicks are favoured, as Google will consider you a trusted authority

  • Keywords - Is the copy on your website well thought out and infested with sector specific keywords?

  • Links - Internal links to different pages and external to other sites offer positive results

  • Social sharing and traffic - Are you getting visitors from your social accounts and how often is your information shared?

  • Direct traffic - How many people are typing your domain out?

  • Organic traffic - How frequently are people searching for your website and clicking on your website?

  • Email traffic - Google is smart enough to recognise links passed on from email accounts. Time to consider email marketing?

  • Dwell time and bounce rates - Google will penalise your listing if people click your link and instantly click off. Make sure your content and design is engaging, keeping visitors on for as long as possible

  • Site load speed - If your website takes too long to load, it will negatively impact your listing

  • Header tags - Use of header will help Google highlight keywords and phrases

  • Mobile optimised - Making your site mobile accessible is now a key aspect to work on as Google recognises the impact of smartphones and mobile devices in today's digital ag.

Hit all the criteria and you're onto a winner, but have you got time to keep on top of it all?
