Keep creativity simmering with dummy briefs
We liked to keep our creative juices simmering under the surface whilst we work on spells of basic artwork and in order to do so, we sometimes set ourselves fake briefs to challenge our talents under new sectors and deliverables.
This time we wanted to explore packaging and looked out creating a visual identity for local products. From markets, to deli's and clothing, we had a choice of industries on our hands. We decided to go with a logo and label design for a local cider brewery, The Old Saw Mill based in Congleton.
With no limitation on brief or client expectation, we're able to 'spread our wings' and do what we do best... Design.
We wanted to show heritage but at the same time, deliver a contemporary outcome for the branding of the business. We achieved this through contemporary colours, hand drawn illustration and strong typography giving reference to the Mills name.
Creating iconic logo's which our entirely typeface focused is a challenging task. You can't have your logo invading competitors styling nor do you want it to be forgotten. It's got to carry it's own identity and be a symbol for the business from a simple glance.
Combine the logo with a colour scheme and styling, your on the way to creating collateral.
Skipping out months of development and client approval, we went to creating a label design we thought was worthy for cool, crisp glass of local cider. The pastelle green with gold is classic combination nodding back to the mills heritage.
Carrying the essence of the logo design, a simple change to the paper shape can make such an impactful difference.
The final outcome...
What do you think, love it as much as we do? We'd love to hear your views. Comment in the section below.
